YWCA Quad Cities Receives Healing Illinois Grant
YWCA Quad Cities is happy to announce that we’ve received a Healing Illinois grant through the Illinois Department of Human Services. As a Healing Illinois Sub-grantee, we’re excited to create community-centered, inclusive and safe spaces to talk, learn and grow! This grant will allow YWCA Quad Cities to create our community’s first white anti-racist group! This group will help white people take responsibility for educating themselves about oppression and racism, rather than relying on People of Color to carry this burden.
Through this project, we hope to:
- Cultivate a community that shares a collective anti-racist culture
- Increase understanding of concepts surrounding racial equity and racial healing
- Improve and increase cross-racial relationships
- Decrease the frequency of microaggressions in our community
