Youth & Outreach

Our Youth and Outreach programs are designed to provide support, resources, and opportunities that can help young individuals develop their potential and thrive in their environments. It can be as simple as a hot meal or as crucial as a safe place to stay in times of crisis, we offer a range of support for teens and young adults (ages 13 – 22).

ThePlace2B

Whatever your needs, if you’re a teenager, YWCA Quad Cities is ThePlace2B. It’s our no-cost drop-in center for all area youth. The program supports 25-30 youths each night, providing a safe and supportive place to learn and hang out, where youth can feel at home.

We offer educational support, activities like basketball and swimming, a meal each night, wrap-around support as needed, and transportation to and from the program.

Days of Operation: Monday – Friday

Alan's House

We are thrilled to announce that we will be opening Alan’s House in March, 2026.  We have repurposed our old building into a youth group home, the only one in the region.

Alan’s House is a licensed DCFS youth group home that will serve youth ages 10-17 who have been removed from their home due to abuse, neglect, or other difficult circumstances.

Youth will be supervised 24/7 by licensed and trained staff and will receive wraparound services.

Building on the Success of ThePlace2B

Orange Underline

ThePlace2B has been an integral part of the YWCA since its doors opened in 2010. Unfortunately, foster or host homes have become very sparse, and finding placements for teenagers in emergency situations is very difficult. In situations where a youth is unable to return to their home, there are very few safe places for them to stay.

In the absence of a family or friend’s home, they are likely to end up spending several nights in a social service agency office, which is not equipped to provide overnight accommodations. YWCA Quad Cities has been exploring a group home option since mid-2023, and now that we have vacated the old building, plans are underway. The group home, starting with 15 beds, will serve youths (ages 10 to 17 years), providing sleeping areas, restrooms, and male/female showers.

We are still working to reach our fundraising goal for the new shelter. If you would like to help change the lives of the youth in our community, you can make a donation below.
