YWCA IS ON A MISSION and even more importantly, great and exciting things are happening at your local YWCA Quad Cities! We are excited to announce the launch of our new and original Special Events Fundraising Campaign, The Orange Project. Throughout the span of a year, YWCA Quad Cities will host four events, all in an effort to raise funds for the following programs:
theplace2b is an after-school program for homeless and at-risk youth in our community, ages 14 – 21 years. Services are individualized for each youth, ensuring their immediate needs are met, including housing, food, clothing and medical & dental referrals. Youth can participate in a variety of recreational and educational programs offered at the YWCA free of charge.
The YWCA Youth STEM Program provides disadvantaged youth the opportunity to explore careers and a variety of activities related to science, technology, engineering, math and the arts. Each module is cumulative, building up to the youth creating a final product. The group meets weekly at the YWCA and is facilitated by professional volunteers from Arconic, John Deere and local schools.
The YWCA Youth Empowerment Program assists youth with job searches, resume writing, mock interviews, one-on-one coaching and professional attire. Staff also assists the youths with career exploration, college applications and a variety of career opportunities including the trades.
The YWCA Youth Scholarship Program offers YWCA memberships to youth (regardless of family income), which allows them to participate in a variety of recreational activities, with full access to the pool, gym, fitness room and other activities.
The YWCA Child Care Center uses Creative Curriculum to ensure our youth are prepared to excel in school. 99% of YWCA preschool students are prepared to succeed when they leave our center. Our secure licensed facility includes an outdoor playground, a gym for cold or rainy days and a pool that can be used by kids over the age of 3.
