This past Saturday, I had the great pleasure of attending a celebration to honor Pastor Stacie Fidlar for 20 years of service at St. John Lutheran Church, Rock Island.  It was a joyous occasion not only for the people she serves at St. John Lutheran church, but for the people she has served in our community.

Flashback to August 2010, when Pastor Stacie and Dave Geenen approached the YWCA about renting space for a homeless youth program.  Their passion to serve led to the founding of theplace2b.  Although much has changed over the past 10 years, one thing has remained constant, their passion and dedication to making the QCA a better place. When I look back to 2010, little did I know how many youths in our community would be impacted by the services and programming offered at theplace2b.  Thanks to the perseverance and dedication of Pastor Stacie and Dave Geenen, over 900 homeless and at-risk youth in our community have received services and have a safe place to go for food, housing, recreational activities or just hang out.
